Remember God’s Benefits For You

Psalm 103:1-5 reads, bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all His benefits; who forgive all your iniquities, who heal all your diseases, who redeem your life from destruction. Who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies. Who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle. There is a starting point to everything and David knew that point. He said, bless the Lord. It is always good to begin our prayers by blessing the Lord. How do we bless Him? We do it by speaking well of Him. He has done great things for us and we should acknowledge Him for His mighty works. It pleases the Lord when we give thanks to Him because it will show Him that we recognize what He has done and appreciate Him for having done it. So we bless His holy name or speak well of Him because of His greatness and His love for us.David said, bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits who forgive all your iniquities. God has forgiven us of all our sins, not one is unaccounted for because every sin has been wash away by the shed blood of Jesus and we have been made the righteousness of God by Him. We do not live in the days of atonement where every year we would need our sins covered by the blood of animals. No, Jesus is our sacrificial lamb and He shed His blood once for the remission of our sins so that we could be righteous forever more. Jesus bore all of our sins upon Himself and He died for it, God judge our sins by His death because the word said that the wages of sin is death and Jesus paid that wage for us; God being a just God will not require that payment twice. Therefore, all our iniquities are forgiven.

David said that the Lord heals all our diseases. Jesus went about doing good healing all manner of sickness and diseases. It is the will of God that we live healthy. Sickness and disease is under the curse but Jesus has redeemed us from the curse having been made a curse for us so we can live healthy. It is a benefit that a born again believer have in Christ.David was a man after God’s own heart and when these passages of scripture were written, Jesus had not come nor was the Holy Spirit living daily in man so how did he know that the Lord heals all of our diseases? God revealed it to him by His spirit otherwise it would not have been written in His word.1st Chronicles 29:28 reads, so he died (David) in a good old age, full of days and riches and honor. David did not have a dreaded disease when he died. He was not suffering or was in pain. His death was good because he simply went to sleep. I believe it was that way because he knew that the Lord heals all diseases.David said that the Lord redeems your life from destruction. Jesus bought back our lives so that it would not be destroyed, we can have abundance in life without lack. Proverb 10:22 reads the blessing of the Lord makes one rich and He adds no sorrow with it. God’s redemption plan bought abundance because lack in anything is not His will and whatever is not His will destroy. Galatians 3:13-14 reads Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law having become a curse for us (for it is written, cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree) that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. At the end of David’s life, he was very rich because the Lord had redeemed him from lack plus, he did not allow his enemies to overtake him to destroy him.One of the Lord’s benefits for us is His protection. He has given His Angels charge over us to keep us. Psalm 91:11-12 reads, for He shall give His Angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up lest you dash your foot against a stone. His angels are encamped round about us to protect us and to deliver us because the Lord has redeemed us from destruction and they are with us to carry out His plan.David said that the Lord crowns us with loving-kindness and tender mercies. Mercy is not always tender take for example an execution, they would give the person a drug so his impending death would not be painful but they would still kill him. Tender mercy would let the person live. God crowns us with His loving-kindness and tender mercies because He loves us. His mercy is new every morning; it is not warmed over from yesterday. It is always fresh towards us.

He never gives us what we deserve because of His tender mercy towards us and His loving-kindness for us. David was not a perfect man but because he believed God, He saw it as perfection and blessed him with His loving-kindness and tender mercies. We all know that we have come short of the glory of God, yet we expect Him to be merciful unto us and He will because that is the way He is for He is love and He is merciful. Finally, David said, who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. When we find love do we not feel youthful again? Sure we do, we start acting like a teenager again. When we get some money do we not feel strengthen? Of course we do and it is because good things make us feel youthful. God loves us so much that He satisfies us with good things because He wants us to feel youthful. It is not just physical things that would make us feel youthful but it is also spiritual things such as love, joy, peace of mind, good health, restfulness, faith, and many others but all are good things that the Lord gives us so that our youth is renewed like the eagles
